Your brand is yours

Who owns what Creato makes, and what the typefaces allow. The short version: once your brand is on a kit, it is yours to use however you like.

This is part of the terms.

Last updated 22 October 2026. Creato is run by Viresco Ventures.

1.What is yours

Once a brand is on a kit, everything Creato made for it is yours: the logos and icons in every format, the colors and tokens, the guidelines, the copy, the social images, the monthly content, the website and its pages. Viresco Ventures gives up any rights it has in them to you.

  • Use them commercially, anywhere, for as long as you like, without crediting Creato.
  • Change them, have a designer build on them, or register the logo as a trademark.
  • Sell the brand on, with its files, to someone else.

A brand made in a workspace belongs to the workspace's owner. A handoff passes it, with all of this, to the person who accepts it. A marketplace brand is sold once, and becomes yours in the same way.

2.Before you unlock

A free preview shows you the brand so you can decide. The names and directions are there to look at; the files come with a kit. Until a brand is on a kit, please do not take its logo or look and use it.

3.What stays with Creato

Creato itself stays ours: the software, the engines, the layouts, the scenes and the way it works. Using it does not give you rights in them beyond your own brand.

Creato makes every brand for the founder it is made for, and never sells or reuses yours. Brands are built from shared ingredients, though: typefaces, colors, shapes and layouts that anyone can use. Another brand can share a typeface or a shade with yours; owning your brand does not mean owning those.

4.The typefaces

Every typeface Creato uses is published under the SIL Open Font License 1.1, which allows commercial use. In practice:

  • Your logo is artwork drawn from the letters. Use it anywhere, like any other image.
  • Install the faces, use them on your website, in print, in apps and in Canva, for your business, free.
  • The faces stay their designers'. You may pass them on with your files, but not sell a typeface on its own.

The licence text comes with the font files in your kit's Canva pack, and each face is named in your guidelines.

5.Names and trademarks

Owning the files is not the same as owning the name. Nobody can own a word through Creato: whether you can trade under a name, and register it, is decided by trademark law where you trade.

Creato's name checks are a first screen, not legal clearance. They steer away from well known brands and look up domains; they do not search trademark registers. Search the registers where you will trade, or ask a lawyer, before you register a company or file a trademark.
